SolarPaq Thermal Profiling System

Lamination Process

Lamination is the critical last step in the manufacture of crystalline and thin film solar photovoltaic panels. Performed in membrane or press laminators, this is a semi batch process that simultaneously presses and heats the panels.

Application Need

The aim of the process is to ensure the encapsulant is cross-linked; this cross linking is a function of time and temperature. The challenge is to measure the product temperature from within the sealed press area. Long thermocouples trailing out of the process will get damaged, leading to false readings.

Benefits to the customer
  • Measure product temperature from within the process - no more broken thermocouples
  • Obtain temperature profiles from multiple points simultaneously, enabling fine tuning of uniformity to improve yield
  • Reduce setup time with the radio telemetry option, beaming back results in real time
  • Ensure correct cross linking of the encapsulant, extending module lifetime
Thermal Profiling Systems
  • Designed specifically for use inside membrane laminators
  • Radio telemetry option to speed up process setup and troubleshooting
  • Thermal contour plot shows temperature distributions across the panel at all points in the process
