The Datapaq Furnace Tracker Specialty Profiling Systems from Fluke Process Instruments features the Datapaq TP6 and Datapaq DP5 data loggers, hundreds of application specific thermal barriers, thermocouples and our intuitive Datapaq Insight™ Software to create a complete solution.

These specialty systems enable through-process temperature profiles to be obtained in processes where long trailing thermocouples are not an option. Each thermal barrier is designed with a specific application in mind to provide the optimum solution for your process. Data loggers

The Datapaq TP6 is the perfect solution for the most demanding high-temperature profiling applications with a 316-grade machined stainless-steel case and IP67 rating. Once combined with the Datapaq Insight™ Software, you can display information from the data logger in real time via the optional Radio Frequency (RF) system or via standard USB/Bluetooth connections.

The Datapaq DP5 is a rugged and reliable temperature data logger utilizing the latest electronic technology to ensure the optimal size/performance balance. It can take readings from up to 12 thermocouples at a faster speed, finer resolution and greater accuracy than has previously been done in the temperature profiling industry. It is housed in a machined-from-solid aluminum case to ensure longest service life and lowest cost of ownership. The Datapaq DP5 features include:

Thermal Barriers

Thermal barriers for these specialty applications come in all shapes and sizes – from 20mm high for use in low-height vacuum applications to 1m diameter cylindrical thermal barriers for super long duration heat treating processes such as coil annealing. Software

Every Datapaq Insight™ Software product is designed to convert your raw data into meaningful information that can be acted on. All three software options provide a clear user interface, context sensitive help screens and wizards to assist novice users. The ability to change the language and email results directly from software enables you to share information across the plant and across the world, whether you’re on a computer or mobile device.

Specialty Thermal Barriers

Each thermal barrier can be designed with a specific application in mind to provide the optimum solution for your process. In the 30-plus years that Datapaq Furnace Tracker systems have been designed and sold, our engineers have designed solutions for hundreds of niche applications. High Performance Glass and Lens In most applications, the environmental conditions and process parameters in the furnace – such as temperature, duration and atmosphere – drive thermal barrier selection. Although different data logger configurations and software options are available, these are less critical compared to thermal barrier selection. Some example applications are:

  • Laminated Glass Curing - Autoclaves
    The Datapaq TB0300 Thermal Barrier is designed specifically for use in autoclaves and is capable of withstanding pressures up to 15 Bar (217.5 Psi) and temperatures up to 250°C in processes like windshield lamination, composite curing and vulcanizing. Combined with the Datapaq Insight™ Software, this barrier makes the time-consuming process of thermal uniformity surveys (TUS) quick, easy and safe. The TB0300 can be used with up to 10 thermocouple channels and is fitted with a safety relief valve to prevent pressure retention post process.
  • Vacuum Coating – Glass
    The Fluke Process Instruments VB Thermal Barrier Series is a low-height solution for vacuum coating/sputtering processes. Thermal protection is provided through multiple layers of reflective plates, which eliminates the outgassing that would occur with traditional microporous insulation designs. The small size of these barriers enables them to be used in applications such as lens coating and thin film solar cell production at temperatures up to 500°C. Combined with the lightweight and fast recording speed of the Datapaq DP5 data logger, these systems can capture the full product temperature profile in fine detail and through the whole cycle. Using these systems, temperature uniformity and true product temperatures can be measured without the need for expensive and cumbersome feed-through thermocouples.
  • Wire Coil Annealing – Furnace
    During the annealing of steel wires, control of both atmosphere and temperature is critical in avoiding undesirable microstructures. Achieving a homogenous structure with even carbide distribution can be difficult and a thorough understanding of temperature distribution is critical. Fluke Process Instruments has developed a range of cylindrical thermal barriers that sit inside the coil, allowing for easy setup and quick thermocouple placement to monitor coil temperatures and temperature uniformity throughout the annealing process.
  • Hot Stamping (Press Forming)
    The Fluke Process Instruments TB7540 Thermal Barrier is designed to measure the temperature of thin steel panels as they are heated in a furnace prior to stamping. With process temperatures up to 950°C and low clearances within these furnaces, a low-height barrier is required. The high temperature materials used in the TB7540 protect the Datapaq DP5 data logger as it passes through the process, recording temperatures from up to 6 points on the panel. Temperature ramp rates and uniformity can then be analyzed in detail using the Datapaq Insight™ Software.

Radio telemetry accessory

The Datapaq TP6 radio telemetry system utilizes high temperature radio-frequency technology to allow data transmission from the data logger in real time. As the system travels through the process, product and process temperature data can be viewed, analyzed and reported instantaneously. This technology can be applied to monitoring key thermal processes in most industrial heating applications.
