The Datapaq Furnace Tracker Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS) System from Fluke Process Instruments features the choice of data logger (TP6 or XDL12), choice of thermal barrier (TB45 or TB46), thermocouples and our intuitive Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS) Insight™ Software package to perform accurate in-process product thermal profiling while verifying conformity to all required specifications, including the AMS2750 standard.

Data Loggers

The Datapaq TP6 is the perfect solution for the most demanding high-temperature profiling applications with a 316-grade machined stainless-steel case and IP67 rating. Once combined with the Datapaq Insight™ or Datapaq Insight Furnace Surveying software you can display information from the data logger in real time via the optional Radio Frequency (RF) system or via standard USB/Bluetooth connections.

The Datapaq XDL12 Data Logger is designed for temperature uniformity surveying (TUS) in batch and vacuum furnaces where data collection, external to the furnace, is required to ensure compliance with the AMS2750 & CQI-9 standards. Features include:

  • Choice of 12 channels and thermocouple types,  which we can pre-configure to meet your exact needs
  • Thermocouple sockets, color coded to IEEE specification, to eliminate mistakes with setup and save technicians time
  • Robust casing constructed of high grade stainless steel and completely sealed from dust to IP50 specification
  • Rechargeable battery for up to 60 hours of use, so there is no need to rely on a main power input

Thermal Barriers

The Datapaq TB45 and TB46 Thermal Barrier series incorporate multiple design features such as additional strengthening at critical points, removable gas quench deflector shields and over center catches to achieve the best possible product life. Internally, the thermal barriers incorporate gas flow vents that allow fast pressure equalization as conditions change from vacuum to high pressure.

The TB45 Series of thermal barriers can operate in temperatures up to 1050°C (1922°F); meanwhile, the TB46 Series features high temperature insulation and an Inconel casing so it can withstand temperatures of up to 1200°C (2192°F).

Temperature Uniformity Survey Software

This advanced software package for real-time data monitoring, along with the TM21 Radio (RF) Telemetry System, separates both profiling and surveying functions, each having its own wizards and analysis tabs. This software automatically performs full analysis calculations, allows for real-time alarms and alerts when critical events take place during the survey, and instantly prints a survey report complying with the AMS2750 standard. Other features include: 

  • One software package for TUS setup and reporting; includes thermocouple and automated logger correction factors
  • Provides complete AMS2750 documentation
  • Displays tolerances and setpoints in real-time

TUS in aerospace applicationIn the aerospace and automotive heat treatment industries, Temperature Uniformity Surveying (TUS) is the technique of confirming the process is compliant with industry standards. Furnaces and ovens are normally required to be compliant to AMS2750 or CQI-9 specifications before products can be heat-treated.

The Datapaq TP6 radio telemetry system utilizes high temperature radio-frequency technology to allow data transmission from the data logger in real time. As the system travels through the process, product and process temperature data can be viewed, analyzed and reported instantaneously. This technology can be applied to monitoring key thermal processes in most industrial heating applications.
